Federal
Work-Study
Federal Work-Study provides jobs to students with financial need to
help pay for education related expenses. The benefit of Work-Study is
that it may allow you to find a job related to your field of study on
campus or community service work. Your employer will be sensitive to
your class schedule and academic needs giving you more flexible hours
than a typical job. In addition, the amount you make for work-study
does not add to your total income or increase next years estimated family
contribution.
*TIP- While filling out the FAFSA, you will be given the option to accept
work-study as part of your financial award offer. Even if you don’t
plan to work, always check this option because you may not know your
future financial status and having a work-study award can be helpful.
Your work-study
award will depend on your need and the funds available to your school.
Although you will make at least minimum wage, you may earn more depending
on your skills and the job requirements. The amount you make cannot
exceed the amount you are awarded.
